Nanjing in the rain

After our train arrived in Nánjīng, we spent a couple of hours working our way across town to the hostel where we were staying – this involved a subway trip and then a taxi ride.

There was light rain when we arrived and this got progressively heavier during the day. We explored some of the nearby streets before settling down for an excellent lunch, which included our favourite variant yet of Gōngbào jīdīng.

We were somewhat damp by the time we arrived back at the hostel, and settled there for the rest of the day as the rain progressively got heavier. Owen and Liam loved the attractions of the communal area at the hostel, where they could play either Pool or Foosball! Two of the staff also played Pool and Foosball with the boys, so we had a fun afternoon and evening. Peter played a version of Liar's Dice, which was a very good way to improve his counting in Mandarin.
