School boys

Monday is a big milestone in our house, as our second lad Liam starts school.

Although I think this is primarily a milestone for mum and dad - Liam hasn't shown any signs of nervousness. Yes, life for an enthusiastic 5 year-old is very much a day-to-day existence. Of course he's aware that school is coming and is definitely keen about the idea, but he doesn't dwell on future plans - or on the past - as we do.

Yes - I can think of one occasion recently where he stopped and sighed "I can't wait until I go to school." But that was several weeks ago. Today was plenty of what we normally see: another day to play with Victor, do some activities and workbooks, watch a bit of TV, play some soccer, share a few cuddles.

It's great to see him enjoying an active, fun, loving, and slightly mischievous life. And I'm sure he can fit plenty of that in with school as well.
